Creating rythmical gate sequences using A-160 & A-161

Creating rythmical gate sequences using A-160 & A-161

2010-03-17 by peter.erikson

Hi!

What i am trying to do is to create a rythmical gate sequence using the gate outputs from the A-160 and A-161 and i am wondering if i am using the right aproach.

What i do is that i connect 3 of the gate outputs from the A-160 and and the A-161 to a multipple and then connect the 4:th multipple connector to the gate input on an anvelope generator. I have noticed that when i do this the leds on all connectors (on the A-160 & A-161) that are connected to the multiple light up when any of them is trigged.

What i am wondering is if it is correct to use a multipple to "mix" the gate signals from the A-160 & A-161 like this? Or should i be using some other module to do this?

I just recently bought my A-100 system so i am quite new to this.

Thanks!

Hello Florian

Thanks for the quick reply! I am waiting on a logic module in my next shipment from Schneidersladen, so i will try this out once it arrives.

The multiple approach seemed to work though. Even if i got signals from the A-160 and the A-161 at the same time. I just got a bit worried when the diodes lit up by getting signal on the output. I was thinking i might risk damaging the modules.

Thanks!

No. It is possible to do this with the A161 (which enables always only
one output at a time), but not with the A160, which enables several
outs. The correct way for the A160 would be the A186 trigger combiner
(or more expensive the A166 Logic module in OR mode).

Alternatively you might use also a Mixer instead.
