[Doepfer_a100] 188-1 256 stage - no ouput from bbd out or feedback

Hello, I recently got an A-188-1 256 stage unit and have come across an issue with the direct bbd out and feedback path. First off I get no output at all from the bbd out which means no feedback at all. I tried injecting another signal into the feedbak input but even this does not produce any difference. I am fairly handy with a soldering iron so I was wondering if anyne could shed some light on what could be going on. Everything else on the unit works fine including the mixed output including the polarity switch for the mixed out. Ideas? thanks, b. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Sounds like an interruption between the BBD output and the corresponding socket on the front panel. The internal signal path is as follows: internal BBD output (which is obviously working) -> BBD output socket -> Feedback socket (via switching contact of the output socket) The first connection (internal BBD out -> socket) is made via one of the two 5 pin connectors. Maybe one of the cables is loose or there is any other interruption. If you cannot find the fault please send the module for service/repair to the dealer/representative where you purchased the module. Best wishes Dieter Doepfer

Thank you for the reply so quickly! after looking at the flow chart on the doepfer site for the module I came to the same conclusion that something must be wrong at the jack/pcb point. I removed the one pcb with the jacks and switches from the panel and found that the 2 jacks for the bbd out and feedback insert were almost falling off already. The pads for the points on the PCB had come off of the board so even though the jacks were in place they were not actually connected. Given the pads were not attached to the PCB anymore I just ran some jumper wires from the appropriate points to the jacks and now everything is working just fine. Did you get a new module from your dealer/representative or was the modules purchased second hand ? In the first case such a fault should not happen. If it's second hand it's difficult to find out what happened in the past with the module (e.g. mechanical damage during transportation or by falling down). Best wishes Dieter Doepfer

I'm glad to hear that the module is working again. Did you get a new module from your dealer/representative or was the modules purchased second hand ? In the first case such a fault should not happen. If it's second hand it's difficult to find out what happened in the past with the module (e.g. mechanical damage during transportation or by falling down).
