DARKTIME HANGS NOTES AFTER UPDATE

DARKTIME HANGS NOTES AFTER UPDATE

2013-05-19 by Jack

Hello group I was just wondering if it's a Dave Smith/sequential circuits thing or if it's an analog synth problem. ever since I updated my Darktime too the latest firmware it hangs notes on both my DSI Mopho and my SCI Prophet600 but not on my Korg ms2000. I have tried all the different firmwares there are, but none of them fix the problem. Maybe someone else has experienced this as well, I hope there is a fix for this please let me know. Thanks in advance

Jack

I have no explanation for this behaviour. I have never heard about any note
hanging problems of the Dark Time and if it works with one synth (MS2000) it
should work with other too. Please contact our Dark Time specialist
Christian Assall (software@doepfer.de) if you cannot solve the problem.

Best wishes

First of all: are you sure that you don't have a midi-loop in the chain
with the darktime? The P600 is known to have a flimsy midi
implementation, but I would be astonished to see MIDI problems withe the
Mopho. Only a buffer overrun might cause something like that, and a loop
could cause a buffer overrun.

Tests:
* Does it appear also if the Mopho is connected only via DT-MIDI-out ->
Mopho-MIDI-in an nothing else (nothing attached to Mopho MIDI out;
Nothing attached to MIDI-In at the Darktime)?
* Same test with the P600

If it appears in this test configuration too, then the next step is:
* check the outputstream of the Darktime with a MIDI-monitor. Any
additional Data but the note information?

Florian

I unhooked everything in my studio ( it was a rats nest )and hooked it all back up this seems to have fixed the problem at least with my mopho I have not tried my p600 yet. so I must have had a midi loop going on somewhere.

Thanks, Jack

Thanks Florian! I unhooked my whole studio and then hooked it all back up and now at least the mopho works correctly. I have not checked the p600 yet but I'm sure it will be fine as well.

Thanks, Jack
