A-190.1 and A-113 problem

A-190.1 and A-113 problem

2014-01-03 by dave_doobie@yahoo.co.uk

Hi, I recently had both my A-190.1 and A-113 Sub harmonic generator working on the same rail of my LC6 case. Each module had an AD5 +%v adapter on the same rail and both worked fine for a while then they both decided to stop working.

Now, the A-190.1 has all the LEDs illuminated and the A-113 shows no indication of working. I have placed them on different rails now with their adapters. I have tried resetting the A-190.1 but get no further than the LEDs lighting up. All my other modules are working correctly.

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Could it be that the AD5s are broken?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Dave

Assumingly they are broken.
It is not allowed to have two adaptors in the same row. It is a bit like
http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/rony029/rony0291011/rony029101100011/8253264-ritter-turnier-vektor.jpg

On one rail you need only one adaptor for all modules which require 5Volts.

More LC5V a Doepfer adapter has uen capacity 100mA, this is already the need for A-113 alone

it is best to place the A-rail 113 of the other A-190-1 with its adapter to each

The LC5V is a simple 7805 regulator which can handle 1000mA with a
larger heat sink and will still handle 300mA fine with a heatsink in the
size, that doepfer provides. I don't think that you need two of them.
But Dieter may jump in after his vacation.

The more interesting aspect is that LC5V is supplied from the 12V rail.
So you have to take the current for the 5V in account when summing up
the current on the 12V rail!

Hi, thanks Flosynth and Florian for the prompt replies.

I have swopped both my adapters around and discovered that both units still do not work so I must have blown a part somewhere whether it is the adapter or the modules I do not know yet. I may buy another adapter to see if this solves the problem or if that fails see if I can have the units repaired.

Thanks

Dave.

Please look at the LED at the bus board that indicates the +5V. This LEDs
has to be "on" with the same brightness as the +/12V LEDs. If the +5V LED is
off or brighter than the +/-12V LEDs the A-100AD5 is faulty (if it's
brighter there are more than +5V, if it's off there is no voltage). To be
100% sure the +5V should be measured. I cannot imagine that both A-100AD5
are defective (but who knows ...)

Best wishes

Hi Dieter

thank you for the advice. I followed your instructions on both of my A-100LC6 units. The +5v leds are consistently as bright as the +12v/-12v leds on both rails of both units. Both adapters indicate that they are working.

The A-190.1 lights up and will not reset. The A-113 gives no indication. Is it a case that I now have to return both units to Doepfer for repair? All my other modules are working correctly. It is just these two modules. I only use Doepfer modules and have no other modules from other manufacturers in my system so their can be no conflict there. Do you have any other suggestions I could try?

Thanks

Dave

If you ordered the modules from EMIS/UK you may send the modules to EMIS for
repair. Andy Horell is familiar with A-100 repairs. But you may also send
the modules to our address. But this would probably cause higher shipping
charges.
