Manual gate with A140 adsr

Manual gate with A140 adsr

2016-05-26 by jaccoville@yahoo.com

Hello there,

I would like to make a small switch on my A140 adsr modules.
Looking at some Moog adsr modules I like the idea having a momentary switch to make a fast and easy way to tune the timing with a manual gate.
Anyone has experience with this mod?
I guess I'll have to find a 5V(?) voltage from the pcb or maybe 12V with a resistor?

Cheers from Holland

I would suggest getting a manual pushbutton gate module. Doepfer makes the A-164-1 manual gate module and we (www.synthwerks.com) make a couple of modules that will do this quite easily (the MG-1, FST-1T, or any of our FSR modules) plus give you some other useful functions. That way uoi can use these functions with more than the A-140. Almost all of our modules connect to the internal Doepfer Gate bus (with jumpers on the PCB) so no cable is even needed.

Hello James,

I have two of these A164-1 modules which I use for general reset/start/stop for my sequencers.
Don't use the internal gatesystem.

Just want a manual hands-on gate for each A140 without having to disturb
the patch or use other modules.

Anyone?

Cheers

Jacco

Is it possible to use the +12V side of the boardsupply to use as a gate by means of a momentary switch?

I'd put two resistors 100k/47k as potentiometer and a 1k resistor in
series to the gate. Like this:

12V

+------switch------^v^------>Gate

Gnd

(I hope the ASCII graphik is readable)

Thank you, I am not sure I understand.
Why potentiometers?
Don't fully understand the schematic.

I believe Florian meant "voltage divider" but used the term potentiometer (which is a variable voltage divider)

If you search for "voltage divider with resistors," you will find explanations and calculators

+12V via a protection resistor (e.g. 1k) is fine. The A-140 does not require exactly +5V. Any voltage beyond about +3V will work.
