A-190-3 & Automap 4

2018-03-25 by Diego Ragnini

Hello,
I just found that the A-190-3 appears available as input source (!) from the Automap Software Setup and this surprised me: does the USB port actually sends incoming data or it is just a “wrong” feature of the Automap software? I assumed that the A-190-3 USB port receives only and so it should appear as destination only (Automap MIDI Out)
Best, Diego

Hi Diego

It might act as sender for SysEx when updating the firmware (I don't know whether sysex-updating is possible). Assumingly Chris Assall, who did the firmware, uses some standard software modules, and this module provides in and out functionality.

You may ask him -> software@doepfer.de

Regards
Florian

Thank you very much Florian
Though it would sound strange anyway: one would think that the unit receives (instead of sending) data when updating firmware…

if it is a hand shake based protocol, then you need both directions.
