Ideas for a new random module

Ideas for a new random module

2018-09-26 by 2494axe@gmail.com

Hello,

Now using a smaller system than the one I was used to, I am considering new modules that would combine different functions of already existing modules in order to save HP.

I'm pointing that I'm now using only Doepfer modules.

For example I think the A184-1 is one of those very practical and economical modules HP-wise.

I'm thinking of a random module that somehow could combine the A117 & A118.

Maybe it would also be possible to add some more functions from the ones available in those two, modules.

At least I'd see :

- random output. In fact it could be two different outputs according on settings of white and colored noise for example,

- a noise output (maybe VC controlled),

- a clock controllable output (like the A117), maybe with optional clock onboard + external clock possible. I really like controlling the A117 with the HSVCO from the A188-1 or 2 (I feel it works less with the A188-2 for some reasons),

Also, more generally, I'd like to see more modules with switches/toggle switches that give the possibility to choose from two different onboard CVs, two different AUDIO outputs or two different modes of that module.

For me those switches are adding a lot of "playability" to a modular synthesizer. For this I really like modules like A150-8 or A173-1-2 but having the switch on the module itself is ever more interesting I think.

Etc.

Just my thoughts.

I would be happy to read other users thoughts on that. Anyone around ? (It has become really really quiet on this forum ?!?).

Bye,

Alexandre

Hello,

indeed we are in contact with a few A-100 users about a new, smaller
noise/random module. We will take your suggestions into account. But I think
that most of them are already in our planning (integrated HSVCO for digital
noise, digital and analog noise, random CV, S&H ...). But so far there is no
release date or details about features and price available. I suppose that
we may show the prototype at NAMM 2019 (without obligation).

Best wishes

I’m awaiting news of the Chaos module if that’s still in development?

AW: AW: [Doepfer_a100] Ideas for a new random module

To speak the truth the inquiries for this module are extremely poor. I
cannot remember that during the last year someone was asking. That's why we
decided not to continue the development.
