Doepfer LMK4+ Master keyboard specs and reviews

2018-12-06 by Diego Ragnini

Hello, please is it possible to know since when it features the Fatar TP/40GH keybed ?
I have read that pre 2011 versions used another model (TP10/MDR)

On the same forum few users had complained for a supposed clunking noise while triggering the keys at low volume control room, reason of this would be the “case” resonance. Can anyone comment this? I have no chance to test this master keyboard but it would surprise me if the physical noise would sounds unbearably loud: couldn’t the case be filled with antiresonance material? Or those people are used to play as quite as a laptop speaker? The instrument is also on sale without case, few bucks less than the normal price… is this option for those who find the keybed so acoustically clumsy maybe?

Is the USB interface class compliant (no need of driver installation), as usual on other Doepfer Midi interfaces?

Owners feedback on this instrument “at large” would be precious to me, any other consideration is heartily welcome.

Best regards
Diego

Please contact our keyboard specialist Matthias Marass
(keyboards@doepfer.de). He knows such details.

The LMK keyboards use the FATAR hammer mechanics TP/40GH (or TP10/MDR in
older versions). It's impossible to built a hammer mechanics that does not
generate an audible noise. It depends upon the user's sensitivity if he
feels that this is too loud.

Just to clarify
After my enquiry on this list I have had the chance to try an LMK2+ 8 years old and the keybed was absolutely silent, they keybed soft and responsive
So the rumours I had found on a forum about resonant clunky keybed, on my opinion, are just rant.

Yesterday I have tried a Studiologic SL88 Studio, mounting the fatal TP100LR, and the keybed sounds noisy and even much harder than the LMK2+
