digital modules

2001-12-21 by Bret Truchan

I fully agree that it would be exciting to see some digital modules for the
doepfer. In fact, in the next few days I'm going to be experimenting with
using a microcontroller as a "brain" for a digital module. Granted, I've
never competed such a project in the past, but it's food for thought.

Add to my wishlist: clocked random pattern generator, like found in the
Nord Modular software/synth.

PS: I have made a "hammered zither" analog controller for my Doepfer. It's
very very fun. You hammer the strings with metal rods. Each string
produces a gate signal. :-)

Fun! Fun! Fun!

------------
This touches a theme, that will be relevant for the A-100 for surviving: No
producer of analogue modular system can neglect, that there are digital
functions, which have really great synthesis results. These functions can be
achieved in an economical manor (nearly) only in DSP hardware. As far as I
know (others may correct me) all Doepfer Hardware uses until now quite old
fashioned digital processor types.

So we run with this wish into the limits of Doepfers developping potential
for digital audio hardware (I'd be glad Chris A. proves the contrary).

That far my humpling opinion ;-)

eehm, what for, if you can do this:

Noise -> S&H ->
          ^
          |
        Clock
