Subject: Re: new S.O.U. modules poll!!! Hi Tommy DOG, That's the question. Originally Buchla's Source of uncertainty was a normal sized modules, that's why Buchla could cram so much in a space, and remarkably, without losing the workability! Now Doepfer modules are all compact, due to the concept. This means it's impossible to cram everything into one module. And I have to correct you here Tommy DOG, it's going to be at least 3 modules, not two. The question what pop's up is then, how many space will there be involved? To react to your question, when you buy only one module, how "lame" is your module then. What are you missing out on? That's the question I think. I'm very interested in The source of uncertainty, that's why I have voted for the first pool of this future module. When look at the wideness and the number of modules am I right to guess that's it's probably going to soup up half of the space of a row? That's a lot. There some modules which soup up lot's of space, like VC mixer, Triple resonance filter Analog trigger sequencer, filterbank and some others. And you have to ask yourself, which module get's the space! But I quess you have more then enough room to put them. I agree however, exotic modules let the modular eventually more stand out! cheers, Roel Tommy DOG wrote: I don't understand why anyone would not want a second module that captures the rst of the functions. As I have pointed out that when building my Trautonium I bought extra modules while waiting for the filter and the ribbon and it ultimately gave me a lot of extra functionality. Even though I would WITHOUT question buy both modules I would probably buy modules to experiment with as Dieter refines stuff on his end. Extra modules is always a plus with a modular synthesizer and they will give the maximum functionality to take the SOU further when you have both.
