well... you find the specs papers for the ua726,and the spec papers for the 
ca3046 and find out what pin is e,b,c and then you take a little perfbord or 
something and solder an empty housing for a 16pin ic on, then you connect 
the correct wires from your formant vco to your empty house, and then you 
put an ca3046 in the house, and then...voila,  it works perfectly, i didnt 
even need any temp. control, the vco is stable!!

ill draw a precise schematic for you within two days or so, if you need it
