Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Swapping wires in the footswitch w o u l d work if there are both normally
open and normally closed contacts in the switch itself. Never opened one up
to see.

Spend some more money and get a thermostatically controlled soldering
station. even if you don't do that much tinkering, it is so worth it just to
cut the number of frustrations. I've had my Ungar so long I don't remember
what I paid for it. Weller is a good brand too.

Trouble with the 'pen' irons is they overheat and your solder instantly
blobs away from where you want it and globs on the tip. Then you have to
unplug the thing and wait for it to cool down so you can clean the tip and
start over...til it overheats again...

Become a weekly pest at the buy-sell-trade stores and eventually you';ll
find a switchable gender pedal. Mine is a Music Products (Fatar) MP-25. The
switch is tuckrd away in the underside. I was right place/right time and got
it for $5.  <rare gloat>
