Actually, I just recently went throgh all of this for my SD-1. There were actually only 2 versions of the keyboard (21 voice and 32 voice). (And to my knowledge only 2 OS's 3.0 and 4.1)... It is possible to upgrade an SD-1 with the 21 voice architecture (3.0 OS) to the 4.10 OS. To do this, you must change out the EEPROM's before the 4.1 software will work. Relatively a cheap job to do as the OS including the EEPROM's is like $40 from Route 66. Syntaur also sells these kits and I believe is the same price after a $10 core charge to return your old 3.0 EEPROMS. You will have to check your SD-1 Ver to see what it has in it first before anything else is done. There are a few keystokes to do this: (I'll have to look this up) If anyone else knows what to push to Check OS, please reply... The only question unanswered to me is whether or not the OS 4.1 makes a 21 voise SD-1 into a 32 voice unit. I believe the answer is yes, but I am not sure. Does anyone know this answer ?? Hope this helps..
