Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Been out of touch for a while. Got a new ISP a while back and had a 
lot of trouble trying to get that squared away with the Yahoo 
Groups. Anyway had to un-join so I could re-join. Good to be back.

Okay....According to both the VFX-SD and the SD-1 manuals the 
battery contained in the unit is projected to last some five years. 
I purchased my VFX-SD in May of 1989 and my SD-1 in April of 1991. 
Well just like the Energizer Bunny, it seems they just keep going, 
and going, and going!

Have I been extremely lucky or do the batteries, in general, 
actually last a long time, contrary to what the user manuals states?

Although it is my understanding that power is only drawn from the 
batteries when the unit is in a static state, is there indeed 
something else that can cause additional drain on the battery?

Ha....Now that I have asked the question, they will both probably 
croak on me before the day is out!!
