This sounds like the internal fuse going. This happened to me and 
scared the heck out of me; my local Ensoniq dealer (well, local when I 
was in Maryland - Chuck Levin's) had it fixed for like $40 in less than 
a week (1 hour of labor and they get backed up sometimes).

I'm sure that either Route 66 or Thesoniq could fix it right up.
