Hey Vince, before having transport trouble and spending 40 bucks you
should simply open your SD-1 (4 screws - use a 0,1'' allen key - or 2,5
mm) and check the fuses on the power supply board. It's left hand and
you can't miss it. You'll see 5 or 6 fuses - small glass tubes with
metal caps. Pull them out one by one and check the thread if you don't
get hold of a meter.
Take care of the current, there are two different types of fuses 1,6 and
2,0 Amp. It's printed on the board what you need.
If you need a picture for proof that the VFX can be opened refer to the
file section of the group.
Should take you less than an hour and I bet your baby will be up and
running again.
Hans

This sounds like the internal fuse going. This happened to me and
scared the heck out of me; my local Ensoniq dealer (well, local when I
was in Maryland - Chuck Levin's) had it fixed for like $40 in less than
a week (1 hour of labor and they get backed up sometimes).
I'm sure that either Route 66 or Thesoniq could fix it right up.
