"My low tech solution", minus one unnecessary step... Who cares what you weigh?! Don't even bother getting on the scale. As Mark indicated, "Pack it up cause package & protection adds weight." Now... remember, stay off the scale! Now, place your packaged SD-1 on the scale and see what IT weighs. This will eliminate 3 problems. 1) You will remain in the dark about your own weight- hence, avoiding an ugly fact, in the event that you are gluttenous, water-retaining sea cow, 2) You will avoid falling off the scale like the clumsy idiot that Bob in El Segundo was describing, and 3) You will not have the scale hidden from your sight "because the package is in the way".
