John,
I also have an SD-1 32 and WITH the original battery. And there is no indication that it is ready to die any time soon. I have never had mine out of my studio and I dread the day it goes belly up! If I ever had to liquidate my gear the SD would be about the last thing to go. And I happen to have a lot of cool stuff: Triton Extreme 88, Alesis Fusion, O1wfd Pro, K5000s, TS12, D50, Wavestation A/D, TG500 (SY85 in a rack), Yamaha RM50 (killer rhythm module), and a load of other out gear. I have studio monitors but I have been using my new Motion Sound SP200S and love it to pieces!! Regarding my coveted Sd-1, I find it amazing how such a dated piece of gear with such a scant 3.5 meg of samples can retain the following it does such as in this group. I think it's great and have benefited enormously from the groups input.
Off topic, I got married to my high school sweetheart on Dec. 9, 1983... and my
divorce will be finalized in August of this year. It sux-- and yes, I would give away my SD to reverse that whole mess! Sorry buddy, no magic potions that I know of here in Colorado.
Back on topic, I just moved and will have my studio up again in a few weeks. I have some very cool 3rd party sounds that I think very few of you may have. They are no longer available to the best of my knowledge and I would be glad to post them when I am able to if there are no legal connotations to doing that.
Rock On dudes... (and babes)

David,
I loved it. This brought a smile to my faceThanks.
My Ensoniq SD1 (32) is still in great shape, still has the original battery which shows a good voltage level and is still in excellent working order and I wouldnt part with it in a million years. I gig it every week and it faultlessly (mostly ;o) plays back my entire set. I only wish my 25 year marriage, which ended 4 days ago was built as steadyId give up my Ensoniq for thatAny magic potions for trade?
Thanks
again for the smile.
Cheers,
John

"My low tech solution", minus one unnecessary step... Who cares what you weigh?! Don't even bother getting on the scale. As Mark indicated, "Pack it up cause package & protection adds weight." Now... remember, stay off the scale! Now, place your packaged SD-1 on the scale and see what IT weighs. This will eliminate 3 problems. 1) You will remain in the dark about your own weight- hence, avoiding an ugly fact, in the event that you are gluttenous, water-retaining sea cow, 2) You will avoid falling off the scale like the clumsy idiot that Bob in El Segundo was
describing, and 3) You will not have the scale hidden from your sight "because the package is in the way". All of our thanks should go out to Bob and Mark for their hot tips for determining the wieght of an SD-1.
Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
