I've always just kept the volume slider at max, as that seemed to work OK. It is a bit noisy sometimes isn't it? All part of the "character"...
I'd also like to hear of any successful mods in this regard.

I opened my VFX and found the output op
amps....they are soldered on to the board so I will need a little time to
analyze the circuit to pick a newer, lower noise output design before I do
anything....
Also, I see that my EPROM OS is at 2.0 and
that there is a daughter board mounted on my CPU board that holds maybe some IO
chip and another memory component with a 105 hand written on it....it was too
dark for me to see anything else at that time. Does anyone know what mod
put a daughterboard on the main board ?
