What are the best VFX output noise reduction techniques....

What are the best VFX output noise reduction techniques....

2008-02-01 by Bob S.

...Trying to get a discussion going on things our VFX users have done
that successfully reduced the output hiss on the synth (I'm just
beginning to notice it would you believe!)....some things I read in
the past messages:

--Keep the volume pot at max since it is not really an independent
volume control but part of the VCA (are there any internal mods to
help ?)....

--Replace the output op amps with quieter ones (which p/n worked well ?)

--Use a noise gate on the output

--What else has worked (or what has not)??

Thanks

I am re-posting this question that I posted last week in case anyone
missed it and since there were no replies......

Hi Bob,

I've always just kept the volume slider at max, as that seemed to work OK. It is a bit noisy sometimes isn't it? All part of the "character"...

I'd also like to hear of any successful mods in this regard.
Good luck with whatever you try, and let us know!

Cheers,
Neil

Thanks Neil....
I opened my VFX and found the output op amps....they are soldered on to the board so I will need a little time to analyze the circuit to pick a newer, lower noise output design before I do anything....
Also, I see that my EPROM OS is at 2.0 and that there is a daughter board mounted on my CPU board that holds maybe some IO chip and another memory component with a 105 hand written on it....it was too dark for me to see anything else at that time. Does anyone know what mod put a daughterboard on the main board ?
