My dual footswitch has NOTHING connected when at idle. When you press the right pedal, it connects tip to sleeve. When you press the left pedal, it connects ring to sleeve. So I believe Claus and whoever he quotes is WRONG, and you need a pedal that turns ON when pressed, OFF when released.
