Hi. Is it possible to switch the polarity of the sustain pedal in the SD-1? None of my pedals will work properly with it.

For around $25-30 you can pick up a Live Wire LWS250 from Guitar Center (or whatever store you can deal with a bit). This pedal is switchable (on the bottom of the pedal) between normally-open and normally-closed. I have used this pedal on a daily basis for 3 years straight and it is still operating as new. steve --- In Ensoniq-VFX-SD@yahoogroups.com, "antonfarstad" <antonfarstad@...> wrote:

It's said before in some post, but the Ensoniq needs a pedal that switches OFF when pressed. And as Gordon said, it's easier to just get the right one for ~$30-50. Best, Claus --- In Ensoniq-VFX-SD@yahoogroups.com, Gordon JC Pearce MM3YEQ <gordon@...> wrote:

Either it will have a little switch on the back, or you can pop it open and rewire the footswitch. Gordon

My dual footswitch has NOTHING connected when at idle. When you press the right pedal, it connects tip to sleeve. When you press the left pedal, it connects ring to sleeve. So I believe Claus and whoever he quotes is WRONG, and you need a pedal that turns ON when pressed, OFF when released. Okay.
I opened up on of my Roland pedals.
It has two wires connected to a PCB.
Would changing the wires around work for me?

Have a look at the pins on the switch. If there are three, you'll see that the wires are connected across two and the third isn't used. You might well try the third, unused one. Gordon

Definitely not. You got to find the switch itself which probably has three
contacts like so
wire 1 --------------------V |
wire 2 ---------------------------------------------------- | foot
pressure
V
unconnected --------------------A
Instead of soldering wire 1 to 'unconnected', with some good look, you can
just turn
the switch upside down: normally the upper contact is closed on rest and
the lower conract will be closed on foot pressure.
Turning the switch upside down jsut reverses the pressure conditions.
With my pedals this worked fine. See also message #1653.
Hans
Of course you must turn the switch inside the pedal not the pedal upside
down ;-)
