Hi Richard,
excuse my terrible english, hope you understand what trying to say.
My first VFX died the same way. It`s correct to have a look at the Diodes,
but the better way first, I think, is to measure the Voltages of the
Powersupply, the values of the different Voltages( +12V, -12V, etc.) are
printed on the Powersupply-PCB near the connector to Mainboard. In my case
they were correct, so that's not the fault. It`s not easy to locate the
error, of cause I find no way to get electrical schematics for the VFX. I`ve
tried to find the error in the Digital to Analog - Conversion Area, changed
some Operational Amps etc. without success. So now I fear that a Voltage
peak has destroyed the Effectprocessor. Short time ago I´ve bought a second
VFX and I hope i´ll can find the Problem with comparemeasures of both
Synt´s. In the next days I will not find the time to do this, but I will let
you now if I have any success or new cognitions.

Is the 68000 CPU get hot qucikly when you test the unit? And yes I
ment to test the voltages.
