AW: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] board problem

AW: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] board problem

2001-11-20 by "Nitsch, Jürgen"

Hi Richard,
excuse my terrible english, hope you understand what trying to say.
My first VFX died the same way. It`s correct to have a look at the Diodes,
but the better way first, I think, is to measure the Voltages of the
Powersupply, the values of the different Voltages( +12V, -12V, etc.) are
printed on the Powersupply-PCB near the connector to Mainboard. In my case
they were correct, so that's not the fault. It`s not easy to locate the
error, of cause I find no way to get electrical schematics for the VFX. I`ve
tried to find the error in the Digital to Analog - Conversion Area, changed
some Operational Amps etc. without success. So now I fear that a Voltage
peak has destroyed the Effectprocessor. Short time ago I´ve bought a second
VFX and I hope i´ll can find the Problem with comparemeasures of both
Synt´s. In the next days I will not find the time to do this, but I will let
you now if I have any success or new cognitions.

ok, I have a vfx all the fuses blew and after
replacing them the unit stopped all audio output. all
other features seem to work including midi out to
other midi devices, but alas no sound. Any remote clue
what a guy could do next? is there a master reset
other than the preset combo? or is this unit finally
dead?

Richard
