Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Hi guys, wonder if you could help....

Once left off a while My VFX seems to re-initialize on power up (un-aided) voiding any new sounds created previously or loaded in via SysEx. It doesn't say it's doing so but all ROM sounds are back in the Internal memory & it's frustrating to say the least.

If (for example) I edit a sound & save then power off...the newly edited program is still there on immediate power-up....however, on power-up the following day, ROM is back in Internal memory having wiped any new creations.

Now...am I missing something glaringly obvious here or are these signs the battery's on it's way out? (No alarm messages been seen).
