No NO NO! Do not half ass wire in any
AA batteries! (Gordon you should know better) that is really bad advise. I
do not care where you get the battery but replace it with the correct Panasonic
2/3a lithium yellow label or blue label. Take the time to do it correctly with
the proper parts, if your not sure about doing the solder job yourself find a
good tech.
I have always had the best luck with the old TV
repair guys, all they ever do is de-solder and re-solder board level
parts.

If you open up the lid (four screws) you should see the battery on the
main board. Ideally you'd desolder it carefully from the board but that
involves removing the keyboard and the PCB, so don't bother with that,
snip the leads and wire in a 2xAA battery holder instead.
