the ribbon problem was mostly with the first revision of vfx and the eps 13bit sampler in later models the in house ensoniq hard wired them
most of the problems happened when moving the synth buy 1 person the the synth would flex in the middle and would break contacts

Okay, my VFX had AAs fitted before I got it, but the space on the board
looks about right for a 2/3AA lithium. I can only surmise that someone
has fitted a CR2032 in the past.

Sure it's not in a holder, like on old PC motherboards?

Might be worth fixing that. Maybe not though - it might be worth
something "L@@K RARE VFX WITH ORIGINAL KEYBOARD RIBBON" - eh, no don't
think so...
