get an kpc board from an eps16+ rack this is what is used when testing the mother board to see if the keyboard is functioning properly or the the mother board is functioning properly
it has the scanner rom and cpu and instead of the coil boards its switches are done direct from the midi input and will except poly pressure signal from other keyboards but you wont find many with poly pressure as it is an ensoniq product and all thow you can buy replacement keybeds from fatar they only have mono pressure aftertouch

Hi!
Regarding Rackmounting the VFX:
The Keybord electronics (the little board under the keybed), will need to be attached all the time.
The keys hemselves cannot be removed, without changing the capacitance on the PCB-coils.
The solution COULD be to measure this capacitance for a key (the coil), and then replacing the coil with
a capacitor of the same value. This should be possible somehow.
Another (more bold) solution would be to cut up the keybord, and mount it inside the Rack-case,
which would then need to be quite big(!).
I would say it isn't impossible to rackmount the VFX(SD et all), but since the keyboard is Polyphonic Aftertouch
capable, and very few new synthesizers are that, it would be crippling the whole machine.
Another solution would be to buffer the connection between the keybed PCB and the little computer seated under it,
keeping the key-computer in the rack, and making some kind of connection for the keyboard to that rackbox.
I've been thinking of doing that, but everytime I consider it, IF it failed and destroyed the VFX, I stay away from doing it.
Seems I love it too much, to dvelve into 'experiments in that direction. But it might happen someday, who knows.

Well a design like the Yamaha TX7 could be possible. The large display can be in the sloped side.
In fact, that makes it more like a desktop version which is also fine for me (but heck, just the original case with keybed removed is also fine for me as is a simple casing). Desktop version could be mounted on a rackrail plate.
But having it work over only Midi without a keyboard seems more difficult I think.
Any ideas for some kind of workaround for the keyboard?
