eps16+ is the nearest rack version same engine same
effects but no rom easy fix with a all sound rom sampled thats what i did with
mine and to recreat the patches is easy with soundiver as all parameters are
visual you just put your samples in the same order as they are in the vfx/sd1
and add the layers the same
there are quite a few multi samples and a lot of
single samples as in the transwaves which use singkle cycle additive waves in a
100 string
but you can do more with the eps16+/asr10 as you
can make your own transwaves and being able to layer 8 voices you can do
wavesequencing with the looping envelopes
all paremetrs are the same so its easy to dial in
the data from lookig at the sound diver screen and adding the numbers to the
same associated parameter
the sqr is an synth on the cocept of the esq1 and
sq80 with only 3 layers per patch but you loose the am and sink and analog
filters
but the sqr is a great sounding synth and has most
of the sound set of the vfx with added transwaves that the vfx or ts10 dont have
but also looses a few that the vfx has if you get the sqr+32 it has the same
piano as the sd1 but it is only mono pressure and the effects are very limited
and cant be added as the eps16+/asr10/ts10
most patches can be converted to the sqr but any
vfx patches with more than 3 layers cant be made
the ts10 can do most sd1 and vfx patches but apart
from the transwaves as there are only 8 and 6 of the 8 are not even in the vfx
they are vocal type transwaves as in arhh uhh ahh ooh eii
the fizmo rack would be a nice synth but its not a
vfx/sd1 its a totally different beast made on the otto4 synth chip from the asrx
pro sampler drummachine and uses the esp chip of the asr10
the oto4 synth chip has more polyphony and has
resonat filters
the fizmo has all transwaves as its rom plus drum
samples and so is very hard to emulate a vfx with it
most of the transwaves are clipping type and not
resonat type as they are in the vfx becuase of the resonat digital filters which
the earlier ensoniq keyboards lacked unless you used the waveboy resonant disk
which can rewrite the esp dsp eprom but only in the samplers and ts10 not sure
if you can rewrite the effects chip in the sd1 ?
