I don't have access to a computer with a floppy drive at home, but at school we have some really ancient machines. I'm sure they'd work, just I don't really want to ask them unpess it's a last resort. My computer has a floppy controller built in, just no floppy disk drive. I suppose I could always ask around for an internal one... --- In Ensoniq-VFX-SD@yahoogroups.com, Rob Rosenbrock <rob.sd1@...> wrote: > > I don't think that EDE works with a USB floppy drive either. They wrote fine, but immediately after the operation was finished, I pressed the sequencer button and got 'Sequencer Must Be Loaded' instead of the sequencer loading. After seeing the message, I reset it and had the same thing. I then later discovered that resetting it erases the sequencer (oops). > > > > I now am stuck with a sequencer which has some lovely sounds and presets, but no sequencer. The sequencer is the most important part to me. Here is what I have tried: > > > > I have tried starting EDE in windows command prompt (Windows XP). That worked fine except 109 gave me a 'sector not found' error. I put this down as using an HD disk rather than the DD disk I should be using. I bought 10 brand new DD disks only to find out my floppy drive doesn't support DD disks. > > > > EDE 107 and 108 at startup give me an error before even starting up to the program, but after being written to the ramdisk. The error occurs when I type 'EDE' (without quotes) into the FreeDOS prompt. I will post the error in a comment if required. Just post a reply saying if you need this error. > > > > NOTE: I am using an IBM USB floppy drive. > > > > Omniflop doesn't work with USB drives. It does however, work in VMware Player where the VM detects the USB drive as built in via a virtual floppy controller. Omniflop isn't supposed to work with virtual hardware, but in my case it did and it formatted successfully. The only problem with this method is that I can't write to the disk. > > > > When I put the disk formatted in Omniflop into my synth, it said it wasn't formatted and bought me up to the format page. > > > > Can anyone help me with this? I could just go out and buy a disk, but before I shell out all the money (and I can't be bothered waiting for it to arrive from the USA to the UK), I want to see if I can create my own disk. > > > > Thanks in advance. I know this post is confusing, so if you need any clarification on anything, post a reply and I will be more than happy to explain further. > > > > Once again, many thanks in advance. > > Jonathan. > > >
