Re: VFX Transwave Sounds

YUP, (being the uploader of "TheLot"), the patch library was specific to the SD-1. Whilst at least 80/90 percent will play on the earlier models (I started collecting when I had a VFX), some of the patches are SD-1 wavesamples only, and on the other synths in the family, unpredictable results are guaranteed!!
I would never try and repair the faulty patches that use the samples that the earlier synths don't contain, just ditch them and move on. The piano (particularly these days) is a prime example of the Ensoniq trying to do what it's not best at. I have all the latest VST'i's and a very big expensive Yamaha Motiv with all the extras added. But NOTHING beats the expressiveness of the Ensoniq polykey after-touch on it's UNBEATABLE Oboe patch, (as just one example).
- Speaking of that Motiv Yamaha keyboard, Gosh-Darn (and that showed remarkable restraint don't you think???) I really wish the Yamaha was as friendly to use as the SD-1!!
(Yamaha HATED me saying that when I worked for them, I can tell you).
I have never and will never use the sequencer in the Motiv. The SD-1 wins hands down.
Just imagine if they re-released the SD-1 with everything exactly the same except the resolution of the outputs DAC's and a resampled wavetable????
Sigh, one can dream.....
cheers
Chuck (not my real height).
