Re: VFX-SD's Factory conversions to SD1-32

2010-10-06 by sylvesp

I have a VFX-SDII that got the factory upgrade to an SD1-32. It remains as one of the best investments that I ever made and I have yet to see such a good offer made by any other vendor. Too bad Ensoniq is gone.

I only have one problem in that the battery backed up memory gets scrambled on ocassion. It seems to be related to either the power on or power off cycle. So I always keep floppies handy because a power poblem at a job site could cause an unexpected loss of memory which would be a disaster!

And yes, my unit runs hot and I am waiting for a new batch of coolers to be made this winter so that I can buy one.

Your posting mentions two units that were upgraded, one of which was sent in for repair but got cannibalized. Yet suddenly there are still at least two that you have. So it is a bit confusing.

Have you changed the batteries in your units?

Paul

One burnt out and I shipped it to Thesonq. Unfortunately for be I was ill for a while and by the time I contacted him it was used for parts. I don't use the other two because I know they were very rare even when the conversion were done. Other than buying Rte 66's e-Cooler (doing so anyway for live)synth does run hot, does anyone know what other issues there were. Should I replace power supply with a 32 voice supply. I don't want to burn out these last two, rather keep them at home and use my other 32's live.
