----- Original Message -----From: erinSent: Tuesday, September 20, 2011 12:44 AMSubject: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] VFX-SD waveforms mixed upI recently acquired a VFX-SD. Many of the waveforms seem to be mixed up. The gate-kick sounds like a snare, the room-kick like a double cymbal hit. The congas are cymbals as well. The megapiano is a series of percussion hits followed by about 5 seconds of snare hits. Also, the sine-wave has a noticeable click upon release.
Are the waveforms stored on the ROM and is it possible to reload them or does the ROM need to be replaced? Could this be some sort of mapping problem? The ROM was physically upgraded to 2.00 20 years ago.
I have re-initialized and reloaded all the sounds from disk.
Any help is appreciated,
Erin
P.S. Howdy, I'm new.

sounds like the os is mapping the rom memory
wrong
on the sound rom there is a memory table from
the
best way to no the memory mapping is play an alls
wave and start it from 0
it will play the whole contents of rom in a
sequence of samples this is how the samples are mapped that is there address in
the rom table
;
the os when choosing a sample it will look up the
table info and go to that memory location
the os look up table could be corupt update the os
first
