Hi Chuck! 1: If You change sounds very quickly, the fx can go crazy, yes. Especially if You are playing at the same time. 2: I'm not sure if that's the tremolo and distortion fx You just described, or does it happen without playing any keys? In the latter case, a reseating of the (socketed) chips inside the SD-1, can sometimes do wonders.
