When you say general midi, I tend to think of the GM sounds that are in each patchchange slot as "universal" Piano being #1 up to gunshot #128, so the MX-73, not having any soundbanks, only patchchange banks, and only works as a controller for synths that do have soundbanks. They are around up for sale periodically as these type of controller synths seem out of fashion for the last few years. As for Roland, I never met one I liked but there's a kazillion folks who love 'em, so "chaque son gout". The A70 is very heavy unit that makes playing live a torturous ordeal, I'd recommend the K2500 at half the weight and twice the beauty.
