New Member with VFXsd

Hello Everyone,

I am also a new member to the board...I wish I knew about this group
before! It's nice to see some others with Ensoniq keyboards willing
to share information with each other. I am trying to read up on past
messages and look for information on sharing sounds with others, or
even sequences, if that's possible? I would also like to get my
sequences on to my PC as well (either as mp3 as I see someone has
been able to do in the Files section) or as .mid files. I have some
homemade sounds I wouldn't mind sharing with you all. Nothing too
outstanding, but they are fun to make.

I have a VFXsd keyboard which, upon MANY trips back to Ensoniq years
ago, got the calibration fix and has worked great ever since. I also
have MIDI cables and a Creative Sound Blaster Live Drive on my PC
that I can directly plug my MIDI cables into. Now I just have to
figure out what kind of software I need to make things work. :-) Any
info would be appreciated.

Thanks for listening and look forward to discussing keyboard info
with you all.

Erich

For software, (if you're not running XP) start with the patch librarian
Soundlib.
It might be in the file archives of this group.

SoundLib works fine with XP here as well.

Has anyone here had this problem

When using a fast PC (P3 1GHZ up to P4 3GHZ) running any of the Win OS and sound lib found that sound lib runs fine but loading banks to the VFXSD or SD1 can cause a VFXSD or SD1 system lockup.

Only half the bank loads and it seems that the PC is simply sending the data to fast for the VFXSD or SD1 to receive propperly.

I find this with the 401 MPU joystick port or the USB port.
 Rich

Hey Rich,

Are you the Rich that made a bank of (mostly)ambient noises?
If you are, thanks. I used your thunder storm patches in a recent
symphony pops concert. The "African Trilogy" called for thunder and
rain. I'm trying to remember who wrote that. I'm thinking Niel Diamond
but I'm not sure.
Thanks again.

Make a joyful noise,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

No, my name is Erich (pronounced Eric). I have some experience in
creating sounds but nothing professional. Wish I could! hah...

Do any of you use software such as Cakewalk or any other type of
software along with the keyboard? I noticed this as an option that
came up when installing SoundLib. I am not sure how this works.

Erich
