Can Anyone Helo Me With Reason 2.5?

Can Anyone Helo Me With Reason 2.5?

2004-08-09 by Elliot Blake

Hello:

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I hope this is going out to everyone.

I have Reason 2.5. I also have a Midiman USB Midisport 2x2 Midi, Cakewalk Home Studio and an Ensoniq VFX-SD Synth.

I composed a piece for Piano and Oboe (sort of New Age Style).

Here's what I'd like to do:

1.) I want to Transfer this composition from my VFX-SD via midisport 2x2 to Reason 2.5.

2.) I might want to substitute the instruments with Reason 2.5's oboe (and maybe piano).

3.) I want to see if I can record this music from Reason 2.5 to Cakewalk Home Studio.

Can anyone tell me step by step how to do this? (If you can, please tell me in a little lower that layman's terms.)

The reason that I'm doing it this way is because when I record from my VFX-SD directly into Cakewalk Home Studio, I hear high static when I playback.

Thank you very much,

Elliot

Reason will only record one MIDI track at a time if I remember. So,set up a Reason song(two MIDI tracks, each going to a NN-XT will do).Make sure the VFX's sequencer is sending MIDI.Mute one of the sequence tracks in the VFX.Go into your Reason preferences and under MIDI,set the MIDI channel to match the channel of the unmuted track.Start recording in Reason, and start the VFX sequencer. The unmuted track will be recorded as MIDI.When it's done, hit stop n the Reason transport.Rewind the Reason transport.Switch to the other Reason MIDI track.Mute the VFX track you just transmitted and unmute the other VFX track.Go back into the Reason preferences and set the receive channel to match the newly unmuted track's channel.Start recording, and start the VFX sequencer again.Hit stop when you're done.If you have more tracks, keep repeating the process, adding MIDI tracks to Reason (one Reason MIDI track for each sequencer track in the VFX).
Then, load up your samples(once again, you'll need an instrument for each track),and go.
It's probably best to leave a silent bar at the beginning to give you time to make sure the start times coincide.
