How can I make a CD from my VFXsd

How can I make a CD from my VFXsd

2005-01-28 by drew

I would like to have a CD of my songs that I have sequenced on my
VFXsd. But "technolgy challenged" as I am I'm lookin for some help
on how to go about it. I have outputs from my mixer all 1/4 phone,
including a recorder out. Any help would be appreciated.

Just go from the line outs on your keyboard to the line in on your computer.
Radio Shack will have the adapters to go from two quarter inch outs on your
keyboard to a single eight inch in on your computer sound card. You don't
need any special hardware other than your keyboard, a cable, and a computer
with a soundcard.

You can record using just about any sequencer software. PowerTracks Pro
Audio from PG music is good and inexpensive if you are stuck with MicroS***
on your system. If you don't have any music software, Audacity is an
excellent sound editor that will do everything you need to prepare your
files for a CD. It is GPL so cost and has version for Windows as well as
Linux. Download the version for you OS at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

After you record the music to your computer, just burn to your CD like you
normally would.

Drew,
If I may suggest yet one more solution in archiving your sequenced songs on a quality media other than a CD. You can also record those sequences directly to your VCR and get some of the highest quality analog recording possible. Assuming you have a reasonably good VCR, you can use a normal VCR tape or purchase what is referred to as a "Hi-Fi" VCR tape for a buck or two more which is specifically made for recording audio. You will be hard-pressed to tell the difference between that and a CD at normal listening levels. There is virtually no discernable distortion or noise. Some of the high-end VCRs also have level meters but most folks didn't spend that kind of money for a VCR recorder. Assuming you have a choice of speeds (2-hour, 4-hour, or 6-hour) use the fastest - the 2-hour. Although, in my opinion the quality of recording on a VCR is so good, again you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference, whether at the 2-hour or 6-hour speed.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
