I've had an SD-1 32 for , well, since they came out. Around '91 or '92. Anyway, play various types of music with groups or not. Live environments only, no sequencing. Never had time to learn but wish I had. Just seemed complicated. Also play a few other instruments (mountain dulcimer, bowed psaltry, chapman stick, a few others.) So, glad to meet all that have a commonality with the VFX family. Hope I can contribute.
I am also looking for a backup to my SD. VFX-SD, VFX-SDII, SD-1 or SD-1/32. If anyone has one they are not using and could bear to part with let me know. I'm looking to buy.

Welllll.... U should have sticked to your Crown Amp :)

I do a lot of soundgigs and haven\ufffdt actually found any small All-In-One-Packages that works good enough.

But a friend of mine talked about some nice small YAMAHA rigs that were pretty good.

(300 Watts is not always 300 Watts - is it in 4ohm or 8ohm - does the speakers match that and so forth.)

Tim,
When you're ready to part with it, let me know. Thanks,
All,
By the way, let's pick this braintrust some, I'm looking for a stage monitor, getting rid of my old sound system, (crown amp, two big celestron speakers, mixing board, rack, etc.) and replacing it with an all-in-one thiing. I picked up an Alesis Sumo 300, 300 watts, effects, 4 stereo inputs, not happy with it. Believe it or not, it's not loud enough for stage use, I was thinking about a Barbetta, saw a 31c on ebay, two 8" woofers, one 5" horn. Also saw a 22c, one 12 and one 7" horn. Any thoughts.

Re: Sv:Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Saying Hello and ...

2005-10-31 by JDM Zangari

I still have the crown system (just for my keyboards ) in our practice room but it gets a bit heavy carring out. Three systems:
Our "mains" JBL bins and uppers, board, amps, XF, compressor/ etc...
Our stage monitor system, amp rack/board, 4 JBL monitors
And, my keyboard system, Amp/ Board rack, speakers, three Keyboards, etc... and I'm pushin' 50 (years). Stuff is gettin heavier every year.
I thought I could eliminate my keyboard system with an all in one amp/mixer/speaker/effects unit (combo amp) and run my keys through the stage monitor system. Just use the speaker for my own ears.
And ...You're right, 300 watts ain't always the same as 300 watts.

I should also have mentioned, I recently started playing the chapman stick and I just need an amp to carry out and play. Kind of thought I could do double duty with the Sumo 300.

Re: Sv:Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Saying Hello and ...

2005-10-31 by tim sullivan

look on Bose's website
the PAS is their new personal amp system , 2 xlr inputs , 2 1/4inch
just this wierd tower and small bass cabs that produce a whole room sound in a small package
meant for each member to have one , with no monitors or PA system
it does what it claims , but at $2000 a system

Welllll.... U should have sticked to your Crown Amp :)
I do a lot of soundgigs and haven´t actually found any small All-In-One-Packages that works good enough.

Joe

All,
New to this group. Let me introduce myself. Joe Zangari here.
Also, I live in eastern central PA, If any members are in the area and would like to setup a network to "loan"instruments in the event of a performance emergancy, let me know, I don't use mine that often on weekends.
So, Hello ...
Joe
