Hello , I do not have the owners manual so I am not able to do
extensive testing...at start up the keyboard says low battery
voltage once I hit continue keyboard reads calibrating do not
touch..once it calibrates (takes about 1 second for it to calibrate)
I am able to play and change functions.

I have played around with the board and have not had any problens
with it so far.

Sounds like it needs a new battery. I am not sure what that entails to replace.
Ddo you know if it is difficult to replace?
Thanks
Brian

Hello Brian , I have never done it so I am not sure what it entails...I am sending you a web sites with info. http://members.aol.com/route66studios1/Batteries.html
;
At some point this week I did find a site online with instructions on replacing the battery..having no luck finding it now. I do know the battery has to be soldered in.
Some people use their computer to back up their sounds...so the internal save is not needed.
I will keep hunting for the instructions.

AW: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Re: Have a Ensoniq VFX SD for sale on Ebay item 7385216751

2006-01-30 by Hans Artmann

Brian,
changing the battery is a piece of cake. Have a look at the file section (Tools). In the Calibration Error PDF you'll find a description how to open up your VFX. You have to remove the 'motherboard' to solder out/in the battery. If you can't handle a soldering iron find a friend who can - it's worth it.
You didn't say what VFX model you have...
For an SD-1 the battery looks like the yellow clinder in the attached picture and is a (e.g. Panasonic) type BR 2/3a (3V , 1200mAh Lithium). For a vanilla VFX it would be a button cell, also Lithium 3V. The cylindric one is easily available with soldering tags. The button cell (e.g. type CR2032) might need a fitting batery holder.
Most important thing is not to confuse plus and minus! And save your settings, altered sounds, and sequences. After the battery change the VFX will be in factory reset state.

Hans,

Thanks for all the help! I had an sd-1 with battery problems that I couldn't get fixed. I am looking to purchase one (hopefully within our group) but I sure didn't want to have any calibration headaches to deal with. I didn't know replacing the battery was such a breeze. Thanks for your help, it is really appreciated!
Thanks
Brian
