The latest software version for the VFX-SD is the 3.00B. It also concists of a EPROM and SOUNDROM change. My VFX-SD was refitted with this back in 1990 after a fault in the original electronics.

Had the sequencer expander installed in my VFXSD. Bought it from SYNTAUR PRODUCTIONS. It comes with installation instructions so you can do it yourself if you have the know-how. This place has manuals, o.s. disks, eproms, pedals,& sounds for VFX series & all other Ensoniq synths.
I'm sure you can get these things from Route 66 Studio also.
To answer your question regarding the O.S. version: the latest VFXSD version is 2.1. And your older sequences will play just fine. And if you are ever so lucky enough to get an SD-1 ( the latest member of the VFX family --- all your old sequences will play just fine on it too.

hi guys,
i have a couple of questions.
1.i read yesterday about upgrading a vfx-sd sequencer from 25,000 to 75.000
notes. is this still possible and if so, where would i get this done.
2. what is the most current OS? im running OS 2.1. if there is one after
this, how do i go about installing the newest one and will be older
sequences play on the newer OS.
