Hi!

I'm thinking on to sell my VFX-SD(2). The floppy have really crashed,
so there is no sequence software on it. But the synth works fine.

Any one interested of it?

Just so you know, Ensoniq still have the sequencer OS disk image on their
website. So if you want to reload the sequencer before selling to perhaps
increase its resale value a touch, you can.

Help locating sounds

2001-11-14 by Rachel Morgan

Hi all,

I recently bought an Ensoniq VFX again, many years after originally owning
one. However I discovered to my dismay that many of the sounds I so fondly
remembered were actually not presets - they must have been on cartridges.
Now, my memory is a bit vague here, but I seem to remember having a couple
of Ensoniq's own ROMs but I can't remember what they were called. I know
there was one sound that was an orchestra tuning up, and another that was
like a big stab with a repeat on it. But that is kind of it.

So, my question is: do you know what I am talking about? If so do you know
if there is a place to see the patch lists of the original cartridges? And
more importantly, how on earth I'd go about getting hold of them? Is it
possible to download sounds through some sort of MIDI sys-ex dump?

Any help at all would be hugely appreciated!

Best wishes

Rachel

you might check
http://www.fatsnake.com/syntaur/vfx.html

they have the ensoniq cart patch lists for VPC101-105 and VSD1000-1004
I picked up the 'manual' for the VPC100 sounds, that came with the
VFX,
but don't have the Cart !

Im in the process of getting Sounddiver to talk to my VFX right now,
but Sysex dumps an loads are the whole point.
you can find disks of VFX sounds, and theres a util to let a pc
read and write them, so you could also get sounds off disk, to
download via sysex. IF you can't find what your looking for off the
net.

HEY, does anybody know where the VFX patch archive went ???
I was going to point her to it, but its gone, atleast the page
I had a link to

http://www.cs.colorado.edu/vfx/vfx_archive.html

Sounds: VFX Home page.... gone !

2001-11-15 by Roi de la plage

Yep, seems like the old VFX homepage is gone
(www.cs.colorado.edu/~mccreary/vfx/) !

For free VFX sounds and tips, take a look at :
neopatch.hypermart.net/tools.htm
http://perso.libertysurf.fr/hitaye.noix-coco/

There is also a 'best-of' SoundLib file around
(VFXALL2.SLB). Maybe the owner could post that on the
neopatch site. If the SysEx files on the VFX home page
are not on the neopatch site, I'll post those files
too. FYI, sounds for the VFX that used to be on
audionaut.com were exactly the same as the ones on the
VFX homepage.

Hope it helps,

Fred

We have all the VFX and VFXSD, SD1 and SD1 32 manuals and documents available at: www.Route66studios.com
 RW

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
