Saving new sequence and program

Saving new sequence and program

2001-08-29 by serge59@telocity.com

Hi,

Just bought SD-1 (1991, rom 3.0, seq.OS 3.0, sequencer 75K)
and got several problems or is it just one?
After powering ON every time need to load sequencer OS and
all edited programs will be replaced by default programs in
INT bank, plus trying to save a new sequence [keep new track?
- yes] got display showing EDITING DATA... forever.
Analog test showing 215 blinking 214 for battery.
Reinit doesn't help.
Opened hood and found no battery at all???
Is it visible? Anyway I can see empty space on big plate
with "rectangle, + , -, bat1" marks at the left corner near back
of SD-1 (actually center of the SD near label about batteries).

Need some help, please, how to fix it.

Thanks
Serge

Serge,

No, you've got only one problem, no battery!

Until you can find one and install it, save all your sequences, edited presets and the INT sound program bank to a disk so you can load them next time you power up. And find the person you bought the SD from and have a chat with him about truth in advertising...

Good luck

While you are doing the batt. install I would upgrade the O.S.version from
3.0 to 4.10 you can get the eprom chips and the O.S. version disk from
www.Syntaur.com I just bought the updated version for one of my sd-1's and
for everything I needed it was under $50.00. Also check with them for the
Batt. you might also check at www.route66.com also.

Chris:

Good thought, that OS upgrade. Is the eprom chip replacement a "user-installable" procedure?

yes it is, and it comes with full instructions. It's really not bad at all.

Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Saving new sequence and program

Cool. Thanks for the encouragement. My SD1 is running OS 3.0 and while functioning well, does do some flaky things occaisionally that the upgrade may solve. What are the items addressed/improved with 4.10?

Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Saving new sequence and program

2001-08-30 by Serge Solodovnik

Thanks guys for help. Well...
Installed new battery and it fixed two problems - don't need to reload
sequencer and
everything OK with edited programs.
Still problem with saving new sequence -
trying to save a new sequence [keep new track? - yes] got display showing
EDITING DATA... forever.
Apparently SD1 got frozen, soft restart won't work ([preset]+ [oft button
#3]).
Need to turn SD1 OFF and ON and you know what - have new sequence saved!?
It's unusable, recording every track have to switch OFF/ON...

Any suggestions?

Serge
