Here's some suggestions:
1. Battery may need to be replaced.
2. Open the SD up (use an allen wrench to remove 4 screws at the corners of the top panel) and locate the power supply, which is at the rear left, just to the right of the disk drive. One at a time, using a small screwdriver and a light touch, remove the wires attatched to the power supply, one end at a time, clean with a brush if necessary, and reattatch. It is important to do one at a time and not to use too much force. When done, close up and do the hard restart (7x on/off, turning off as the display starts to light up). This method worked for me when my SD1 froze up about a year ago, no problems since. Good luck.

recently my sd1-32 has been giving me fits. a few weeks ago i was
performing an op when the lcd showed the mssg:"system error
144..... reinitialize.... press any key to continue..." similar
mssgs have popped up and pressing any button would set it
straight.sure i'd lose a few seqs but no further harm.this time
however no matter what i tried it just flashed that same mssg. i
tried a soft reboot(u no--on & off 7x), depressing the middle keys
firmly, and begging but nada.then one day it just decided 2 work
again.happy days are her---oh, its doing it again!crap!! if anyone
has run in2 this prob and/or knows how 2 correct please advise.thanks
in advance.
