Maximum would be 61 splits unless you split keys in half
;-))
Actually, it's called key zones and you can assign a key zone to a track.
Key zones ca be overlapping, that's why they are not called
splits.
There
are presets having 3 tracks and the MULTI A AND MULTI B with 6 tracks each
making 12 tracks at one time (sequencer tracks Tracks 1-6 and Track 7-12 on the
SD and SD-1). A track is like an instrument so you can assign all the settings
you mentioned.
12
zones at a time is pretty much forr 5 octaves.
On the
vanilla VFX you've got 20 programmable presets (+ 20 on each cartridge) and
the 12 MULTI tracks. And you can change everythin via midi sysex
commands.
There's yet another feature called DRUM-MAPS where you can assign each of
the 61 keys (plus one below and one above when midi controlled) a value for
pitch, pan, vol (relative), and ... but this was not available on the vanilla
VFX.

i want to use the vfx as a midi controller for my soft synths and rack
gear?
found info that states up to 24 splits... but it seems it's
really just 3 splits that are available
on the unit
this is to be
used as a controller, and i want to set up a seperate midi channel to each
split
zone and play in real time. zone 1 for soft synth on channel 2, zone
2 for matrix 1000, zone
3 etc. etc. etc.....
3 split zones are
great!, but are more available?
also, can you have different settings
for each zone? --- ie. poly aftertouch on/off, velocity
curves,
etc?
looks like i can set these splt zones in a template to be recalled
at anytime
any remarks would be appreciated
