VFX-SD System Boot Disk Needed

VFX-SD System Boot Disk Needed

2007-05-30 by Oh20c@aol.com

I have a much neglected VFX-SD keyboard and have trashed the system with a
voltage spike. I have misplaced the System Boot Disk. What's the best way to
get a replacement disk?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Have a look into http://www.mcwest.org/~mccreary/vfx/ for instructions to find out which SW version you need. Then download the disk images and the ede109 program from the file section in this group. The included doc file's not very evasive on systems other than Win90 (with less than 2Mhz???). You can do it with other systems, too. Instructions are in vfxtools in the file section.
You're saying you've trashed your system. When the SD doesn't come up at all you can't fix it with a system disk. The system disk only holds the sequencer software. Everything else works out of the built in memory chip. You can try to reset (PRESET + SOFTBTN3) or re-initialize (PRESET + SOFTBTN1, kills all user defined sounds)

Go to emu.com > support > Legacy Programs > SDI download the OS and
the Geiber disc maker. It Geiber or whatever it's called will only
work on older OSs like 95-98. It may work on some machines anyway but
I found the newer OSs don't access the floppy the same as past times.

If you find you have no luck, I will be glad to hard copy mail you
one for free, as I went without a OS for a couple months til I got my
disc and I wouldn't want anyone to suffer like I did.

Let me know, like I said, I'll be happy to mail you one. I live in
poulsbo washington, and sometimes get to Seattle if that helps.
