SD-1 sound

SD-1 sound

2007-07-30 by antonfarstad

Hi guys.

I have asked about this before, but alas, there was no response so Im
trying again.

I have a mp3 clip from a band that uses the Ensoniq SD-1 and they use
this bass preset that I like very much. I cannot find this among the
factory presets on my SD-1 so I hope you experts can help me here.

Here is a mp3 clip where the patch is used (a better one than the
last example I linked to)

http://www.quadrivium.nu/gjest/sound1.mp3

The patch Im talking about is the bass sound that is played in the
background. The string patch is the ye olde Orchestra patch..

Anyway, I would be very grateful to any help on this.

Thanks.

I don't know myself....there are many thousand presets for the VFX/SD1 and this might not be a factory preset for all we know.....why don't you ask Nordvang of the band that the audio clip is from...he is the keys man of the band and might freely divulge the information....

SD-1 sound

Regarding the SD-1 sound, it sounds like there are
multiple sounds going at once. Since the VFX and the
SD-1 can interchange sounds, it sounds like there is a
Studio Bass 2 or Electric Bass 2 in there with the
Star Drive sound, as well as kettle drums and lots of
reverb and chorus; not to mention the strings in there
that are probably octaved as well. It is difficult to
accurately pick out the specific instruments, so you
will most likely need to contact the artist themself
for specifics.
It also sounds like a moving sound, and it would be
hard to probably put all of that movement into just
one sound, even for the VFX/SD-1. There are so many
different washes of sound and movement, that it has to
be layered.
Well, that is my 2 cents worth on it. Have a good
day everyone.

Re: SD-1 sound

Hey that sounds like a reverb-effect added to one of the standard
electric bass voices...

I think you should try the 8 chorus-reverb 2 voice in the elec bass
program it might be close..

You can make just about any sound you need with the SD-1...
and the wave form is adjustable from transwave to saw and
square...there are alot of settings.

Sure sounds like a stadium setting, like a large reverb with a bit of
echo maybe. The point is you will need to experiment as much as the
guy that created the sound, and probably more, if you are trying to
duplicate it.

PS....Anybody know of any good waveform and voice books that can help
me make noise??? I would really like to make some great noises!

The band is playing a march with too much fanfare in it...

OK I would say that the patch you are looking for is not an orchestra
patch at all, but a combination of presets, I recognize the tympani
from the new VC disks I just got.

I think they made this clip with the VFX-sd VC disks VC-1, VC-2 and VC-
3...
