BE AWARE : so called "SERVICE MANUALS" TOTALLY useless !!!!!

BE AWARE : so called "SERVICE MANUALS" TOTALLY useless !!!!!

2007-08-25 by xibeb

I just received the 2 service manuals (MR RAck + VFX)I ordered from
route66studios.com.
These manuals contain NO SCHEMATICS AT ALL and so are useless .
For exemple: they say : if you have syst code error, or bad sound kind
of pb=> change the mainboard !! do you believe this ? I could have
been an electronic specialist at ensoniq if the solution at any
problem encountered is : change the mainboard !!
A french electronician which regularely deals with ensoniq material
such as MR Rack, told me that my pb was surely comming from the A/D
converter or operating amplifier (not sure of the translation). which
is a single piece that can be change without changing the whole
mainboard !

Hey xibeb

????? Sounds like your confused...the service manuals from Ensoniq NEVER came with any schematics because the service manuals were setup to trouble shoot and module replace bad boards. Ensoniq in the later years decided to release a schematic guide book?that had only included select ensoniq products to it's vendors at a price of $400 + USD.

Ensoniq has to date NEVER released any schematics for the MR rack, we do however have them available for the VFX and we would gladly send them to you.

So before you decide to go on the attack in a public forum again please contact us first.

I purchased the service manual from a different vendor and Rt 66 is
correct. There are no schematics. I used to work for a large music
store & they were constantly sending bords back. Ya really should
discuss problems first before posting negs. I bought a disk drive from
Rt 66 & had some problems. They were very helpful & prompt. Got my
drive working fine. 2 years no problems.

ok that's the second reply that point me as a neg person. So I guess I
should apologize to the route66 team which has been very correct and
prompt to send me the manuals...I just remember to have asked if there
were schematics in those manuals and I paid immediately, without
waiting for the answer. Reason is that my 2 ensoniq unit are out of
order for 2 years now, and it's very hard to find someone to fix it
!I just have been very disappointed when I discovered that it would be
useless to fix my MR rack and vfx !!! that's all ! I never attacked
directly the crew of course. They've been kind to send it to reunion
island although it was said in the site that they wouldn't accept
order from out of USA and they did. That's just that my problem is not
resolved, I thought that a "service manual" was indicated to service
my synth, and it wasn't...The second bad new, is that the schematics
are very expensive, more than the synth itself. I just bought a second
Mr rack that was normaly in good used but it appars that it has the
same pb: sound is getting distorted and I know how it's gonna
end....so I have now 3 ensoniq out of use !! Now everybody understand
beter y disappointment ?
I'm not such a bad guy ;)

xibeb
>Try this link. This guy used to work for Ensoniq. He has parts & can
fix. He also probably has schematics. I never asked cause I'm not
competent with a soldering iron. I bought an SD-1 32 voice from him &
he currently has a modified VFX 32 voice he's repairing for me.

Hey Xavier no harm done...just be careful what you buy because there
has NEVER been any MR schematics released from Ensoniq or EMU, you
could end up purchasing some hack job schems or ???

The guy in CA "the soniq" at www.thesoniq.com is a good guy to work
with, he will not sell any schematics or answer any repair questions
but he will repair your unit if you ship it to him.
He charges a $70 flat rate + whatever parts are needed.
