VFX-SD sustain stuck

VFX-SD sustain stuck

2007-11-30 by l2web_net

Just fired up my VFX-SD to discover the "sustain" seems to be stuck
permanently on. Any notes I play stick and do not stop.

I've tried pulling a pedal into the footswitch (usually sustain)
socket, but it makes no difference.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is this possible one of those "keyboard design fault" problems?

Thanks!
C.

IIRC the sustain pedal on VFX works backwards. It disconnects when you press the pedal.
That means that without the pedal connected the plug hole at the back of your VFX should do
the connection. A standard female 6.3 mm plug hole acts this way. But if it is old, the
connection might be bad. Or if the connection is totally off, the plugged pedal has no effect
at all.

is it an ensoniq pedal? i accidently placed my roland pedal(tip/ring is reversed) and had a similar experience.

I had tried one Ensoniq pedal and one generic. That explains why the
generic one freaks out the VFX.

Thanks. I'll check that. The sustain stays stuck on whether there's a
pedal plugged in or not and no matter what type of pedal I use. That
would be consistent with a broken socket.

I alternate between the TS12 and VFXsd with a dual footswitch. Maybe
only one of the contacts in the jack is busted, can you get your hands
on a dual footswitch?
