when i turn off my vfx sd it makes a loud pop in the audio stream how can i eliminate this pop and save my hearing and monitors?

Turn down/off your mixer/power amp before
you turn off the VFX.....

Even easier, just don't turn off the VFX
unless you are moving it......I have had mine on for 6 months at a time with no
harm done.....
On/off clicks and pops are pretty common in
older synths that have some discrete analog circuitry due to the charge and
discharge voltage levels between stages....you can review the schematics to find
the culprit but a audio output relay as Klaus said is a technical
solution. This is not a defect in the VFX, only a design preference that
was not considered in this early version of the synth.
Most users of power amps generally follow
the well known practice (this goes for stereo amps, guitar amps, pa amps, etc.)
to turn down or off the amp before changing something connected to a
high gain input.....
